RescEU-stockpiling in Denmark
The Danish Critical Supply Agency has signed a seven-year (September 2020 – August 2027) contract with the EU-Commission to set-up and run, together with the Capital Region of Denmark, a fully EU-funded rescEU-stock with personal protective equipment (PPE) in support of requesting European countries.
The 10,000 m2 rescEU warehouse was ready for swift deployment on 1st May 2021. The warehouse is located in the town of Greve, just South-East of Copenhagen, and contains six different types of PPE, all of which are essential in the handling of COVID-19, and in relation to other types of health crises.
The rescEU-warehouse in Denmark is only one of the EU’s present nine rescEU-warehouses in various EU member states. The procedures and organisational set-up are based upon the EU Civil Protection cooperation.
The Emergency Response Coordination Center (ERCC) in Brussels can activate the rescEU-stocks at short notice on the basis of requests from other European countries and international organisations. For a fast and efficient deployment of the PPE the Danish Critical Supply Agency has made an operational agreement with the Danish Emergency Management Agency.
The present nine rescEU-stocks contain large amounts of PPE and medical equipment for use in health crises.
When fully stocked, the rescEU-warehouse in Denmark will contain 6.3 mill. gowns; 28.9 mill. masks type IIR; 3.3 mill. face-shields; 1.1 mill. FFP-masks and 194 mill. gloves.
